I thought he was just sad that someone put “safety hazard” on his forehead.

Yeah, that’s a GT, which didn’t have that issue. That’d be like if I rebadged my LHD GS as an Ari...wait.

It is actually an SE. either 86 or 87. Most likely an 86 with the color matched wheels. 87's had black inside the spokes, where as 86's had gold inside the spokes.

85 GT was the same body style, but not available in gold, had a different ecu, speakers in the headrests etc. The 86 4 speed cars where the fastest of the lot, though, both SE with the V6 and GT.

I’ve had quite a few Fiero’ s over t he years

Heh, you know more about them than I do. I thought it might have been an 85 GT, since it has the same front end as my 88 GT but the base rear end. Either way, still no fire hazard.

It is still a fire hazard. not as explosive as the pre-recall 84's, b ut they still can and do catch fire. Oil leaks on exhaust manifolds with vacuum leaks. I’ve seen V6 manifolds glow from running lean .... leaves built up in the blower motor and resistor housings. Shoddy electrical repairs. Fuel leaks (old o-rings, fuel hoses, leaky injectors ) The body panels are very flammable, and the 84's had the magnesium engine cover. Boggles the mind sometimes. Cars are dangerous.

How about L67-swapped ones, aside from the body panels?  That’s what I’m planning to do to mine if I ever get around to it.

Just take care of it and lots of preventitive maintenance. Treat it like a Ferrari, not a GM. Mid engine cars...
